Overview
We are recruiting a hands-on Toolmaker Engineering Technician to join a busy manufacturing site in Bridgwater. This role focuses on high-precision toolmaking to tight tolerances, supporting production efficiency, equipment reliability and site safety. You will play a key role in enabling fast responses to new designs and production demands while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities of a Toolmaker Engineering Technician
- Manufacture and refurbish high-precision, low-tolerance tooling to engineering drawings
- Operate manual and CNC machinery, including XYZ ProTrak machines
- Support tooling design and development in collaboration with engineering teams
- Provide creative, practical solutions to manufacturing challenges
- Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workshop environment
- Support maintenance activities when required
- Contribute to continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence initiatives
- Assist with mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge
Key Skills and Experience
- Apprentice-trained engineer or equivalent technical qualification
- Proven experience in precision machining and toolmaking
- Strong manual and CNC milling and turning skills
- Experience working to extremely tight tolerances
- Good problem-solving, time management and communication skills
- Proactive, detail-focused and team-oriented approach
